We hadn't been in 29 years, some things have not changed (yahoo) but many new things to experience that were so wonderful. Thoroughly enjoyed the day. I especially liked the workers village just outside the wall. The gardens and people working there are exceptional.

Great place to learn history...if you're a nerd!

Highlights are the Blacksmith and the Bake House. Demos are frequent.

Most of the buildings were manned by staff in period costume who acted out the activities of people from the fort's history. The main governor's house was closed when we visited which was unfotunate. There is a shuttle service for visitors with mobility issues but it was not well publicized or offered to people with walkers. It is a long walk from the visitors centre to the Fort. The cafeteria was quite nice with reasonable prices. You can even have events there such as weddings with a tent for receptions of up to 300 people.

Obviously, a superb place to take kids. In 2017, admission is free. It will still be worth it when they charge again.

Plan to spend some time here. Take a picnic. Hang out on the grounds. It's dog-friendly, even in the buildings. Interpretive guides adopt characters. Play along. Many would do well in improv!
